The following is an essay written by a Malvern student, Will Pearson. The sacrifice that soldiers make when they die for our freedom is one that can never be truly repaid. That people are willing to lay down their lives in defence of their country is something that cannot be taken for granted. Soldiers’ reasons for enlisting are likely to be as individual as each one. They might not even be fully understood by them, only that they are compelled to do so for one reason or another.

Girls and Women in Sports – Paula Warder Last 11 November was Malvern’s Commencement as well as being Remembrance Day. The guest speaker of the event was Paula Fletcher, Malvern alumna, who in 2011 was given an award at the Canadian National Exhibition – the prestigious C.N.E. Medallion for outstanding contributions to sports at the C.N.E. The Malvern Red and Black Society is always pleased when one of our own is chosen, and we thought we would share her speech with you.
