  1. Minutes of May 2015 meeting<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Adele moved acceptance of the May meeting with some minor corrections, seconded by Volker. Accepted.<\/p>\n

    1. Matters arising from the Minutes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      All matters arising from the Minutes were covered elsewhere on the agenda.<\/p>\n

      1. Announcements <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Vandra noted to appearance in the Star<\/em> of an article about the recent discovery at Williamson Road school of a Remembrance Day song written by Glenn Gould at age 10.<\/p>\n

        1. President\u2019s Report — Vandra Masemann <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Vandra noted that last week she and Rod had attended an OMF meeting at which it was announced that the banking difficulties were almost sorted. There will be a meeting in August at which it is hoped that the difficulties will have been finally resolved. The fall\u2019s OMF appeal will focus on uniforms for the band and auditorium refurbishment. She also noted that tickets for the Boardwalk Ball were lagging, but the use of our Facebook page seemed to have made a difference.<\/p>\n

          1. Vice President\u2019s Report \u2013 Adele Ashby<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Adele noted that work had begun on the Fall Musings<\/em>. A decision was made to have it available for distribution for the purposes of envelope stuffing at the first fall meeting on 15 September. Suggestions for content included an article about the upcoming Tattoo, comments made about the newsletter, AGM notice of meeting, and a ReLeaf report.<\/p>\n

            1. Communications Reports \u2013 <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Mail –Vandra MasemannVandra noted that, as a result of her urgent plea for donations in the spring newsletter, we had received 18 via the OMF and 5 that had been directly mailed.<\/p>\n

              Phone & email — Bob Watson<\/p>\n

              Bob noted that from 5 May to 2 June, there had been no phone calls, no emails for the 40s and 60s, and 11 from Red & Black, 6 web registrations, 2 about ReLeaf Day, 1 comment, 1 death notice, 1 query about donations.<\/p>\n

              1. Treasurer\u2019s Report \u2013 Bob Watson<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Bob noted that our account is somewhat healthier as a result of the donations. A request had been received for $230.15 from Donna for archives supplied. Vandra moved and Bob seconded the motion to accede to the request. Passed.<\/p>\n

                1. Sequester Project and Report on ReLeaf Day \u2013 Rod Tennyson <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  Rod distributed his ReLeaf Day report. He noted that while we did not get crowds, due in part to the uncertain weather, the net gain was $497.76, with the possibility to a few additional tree sales. Rod moved a motion to distribute $300, plus the income from any additional sales to the Environment Club, with the remainder to go to the MRBS. The motion was seconded by Adele and passed unanimously. Vandra suggested a vote of thanks go to Rod for all his hard work on the Sequester Project. Unanimously accepted.<\/p>\n

                  1. Malvern Military Tattoo Proposal \u2013 Rod Tennyson<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    Rod moved a motion that the MRBS support the Malvern Military Tattoo project in principle, seconded by Adele. Unanimously accepted. It will take place on Friday 30 October from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. He porposes 3 bands, 2 pipes and drums and 1 brass and reeds, to each play 15 minutes of music. Opera singer, Giles Thomkins will offer 3 or 4 songs with the Malvern choir. The purpose of the function will be the raising of funds to preserve the commemorative Big Book and to set the scene for Remembrance Day. The suggested ticket price is $15 in advance, $20 at the door.<\/p>\n

                    1. Ways to support Malvern <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      Discussion continued on the subject of how to support Malvern, including donations to the MRBS through the OMF, the sale of business card space on page 7 of the newsletter and the inclusion of positive comments about it, promoting the volunteering of alums to provide classrooms with information on their fields of expertise, and supporting Malvern Red & Black Day by attending if possible.<\/p>\n

                        Volker noted that he now had a volunteer to help with the Malvern gardens.<\/p>\n
