By Joanna Lavoie <\/a><\/p>\n Malvern Collegiate, an 111-year-old high school in the Upper Beach, is doing its part to honour those from the school who served in the Second World War, which Canada officially entered 75 years ago on Sept. 10, 1939, declaring war on Germany.<\/p>\n In honour of this historically significant occasion, the Malvern Red and Black Society (MRBS), the east-end secondary school\u2019s alumni association, has recently launched a new project to restore two aging books filled with information and photographs of those from the school who served in the Second World War.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s all about honouring the men and women. \u2026 It\u2019s got to be done because it\u2019s going to the lost forever if we don\u2019t repair it,\u201d said David Fuller, the MRBS\u2019 1903-to-1939 decade representative.<\/p>\n The books, one smaller red one and a large black one, were created in the late 1940s as a way to honour the contributions of those from the school to the war effort.<\/p>\n \u201cThe generation during the Second World War wanted to commemorate all students who served,\u201d Fuller said.<\/p>\n<\/a>
