  • Archives

This page gives you access to much of the archival research that we have done at Malvern since 2003, as well as to information about special projects such as the restoration of the Malvern CI Cenotaph for WWI. A project to scan all past Malvern Muses is underway, and Muses will be posted as they are scanned. Other projects are the history of Malvern Principals, the history of Malvern Staff, a searchable database of Malvern Muse articles, the history of Malvernites after Malvern, research on Illustrious Malvernites (and not so illustrious), and eventually an electronic database of all of the material in the Malvern Archives. • DECADES – 1970s

The 1970s were a decade of change.  By the end of the ’60s, the Beatles had split up, Jimi and Janis were dead, and the innocence of Woodstock had given way to the violence at Altamont Speedway.  Rock and roll was still here to stay, but now it was hard rock edging towards heavy metal, with forays into punk and disco.

  • DECADES – 1940s

A wonderful, memorable reunion of early Malvernites was held on May 15th, 2008. This meaningful event took place in both the school auditorium and the library. Eighty-five former students from the 1930s and 1940s attended, and it was a stirring and inspirational day.

  • Israel Halperin and David Hayne

Malvernites who attended MCI in the 1920s will be saddened to learn that one of our most distinguished graduates of that decade has died. Professor Israel Halperin, C.M., Ph.D., LL.D., F.R.S.C. (1911-2007) was an internationally known mathematician, author and activist who treasured the memory of his years at Malvern from 1923 to 1928. His brother William, who was killed in the Second World War, also attended Malvern. We are also sad to announce the death in November 2008 of our 1930s coordinator, Professor David Hayne. A tribute to his life and work will be found in the Spring 2009 Musings. If anyone else from this era is interested in taking…

  • Musings Spring 2012

Girls and Women in Sports – Paula Warder Last 11 November was Malvern’s Commencement as well as being Remembrance Day. The guest speaker of the event was Paula Fletcher, Malvern alumna, who in 2011 was given an award at the Canadian National Exhibition – the prestigious C.N.E. Medallion for outstanding contributions to sports at the C.N.E. The Malvern Red and Black Society is always pleased when one of our own is chosen, and we thought we would share her speech with you.
