- Minutes of 2 February 2016 meeting
Acceptance of the Minutes moved by Adele, seconded by Volker. Accepted.
- Matters arising from the Minutes
Vandra reported that at least for 2016, there would be no change to the date of Commencement. She had sent a letter on behalf of the MRBS to to the Principal expressing our support for not moving the date.
- Announcements
Vandra noted that the Home & School’s Spring Craft Fair had been well attended. There has been no meeting of the OMF since November and no disbursements of the funds it holds with the exception of the MRBS, which has received its donations up to December 2015. An OMF meeting is scheduled for 17 May.
- President’s Report – Vandra Masemann
Vandra noted that the OMF would probably want to have a page of the fall Musings to ask for donations, but the focus is as yet undecided.. The 150th celebration of Confederation is coming up in 2017, and Vandra will try to find out what the plans of the various Malvern constituencies might be so that we can decide what we might be able to contribute.
- Vice President’s Report – Adele Ashby
Adele had nothing to report.
- Communications Reports –
Vandra Masemann – mail
Vandra reported that we had received one piece of mail since our last meeting, a request for copies of Muses.
Bob Watson – email, phone
Bob reported that, since our last meeting, the Red & Black account had received 3 emails, 2 registrations and one concerning Mr. MacRae. No 40s or 60s accounts had emails. There had been 1 phone call.
Dianne Chadwick – database
Dianne reported that the database had been updated prior to the printing of the spring Musings.
David Fuller – website, Facebook
In David’s absence, there was no report.
- Treasurer’s Report – Bob Watson
Bob reported that unless we received financial support, there was only enough money in the bank to publish the fall Musings, and no other activities.
- Ways to support Malvern – ads in Musings etc.
Given our dire financial situation, Rod suggested that since the mailed copies of the Musings was draining our finances, we ensure that everyone who wishes to receive one, should be contacted and a fee of perhaps $15 be requested before anything is sent out. For those who do not wish to participate, we can provide with information on how to access the newsletter in other ways. Vandra suggested that the front page of the fall issue be devoted to laying out our financial situation and also the desperate need for new members of the executive committee.
Dianne felt that we have become so concerned with our present trials around money and lack of volunteers that we have not had time to take a longer view of the needs of the organization.
Rod suggested that we needed to promote greater use of the archives and suggested that we publish a list of subjects covered in the next newsletter.
- Other Business
There was no other business.
- Motion to adjourn
Adele moved and Rod seconded the motion.
