Our Decade Coordinators: Bob Watson, 1960s
My name is Robert (Bob) Watson and I’m the 1960s Decade Coordinator for the Malvern Red & Black Society (MRBS). I am also the MRBS Treasurer and attended MCI between 1954 and 1960.
In November of 2007, I attended the Annual General Meeting of the MRBS for the first time with my Uncle Bill. When they asked for volunteers, I put my hand up and became a member. I started off as a Member at Large. I became the 1960s Decade Coordinator. I began to act as a Gatekeeper for the MRBS emails as well as for 1960s emails. I would refer emails to the appropriate MRBS person for processing. I still do that today. I also assisted in the planning and carrying out of reunions such as 1950s/1960s get-togethers. I often assist the Archives Group with our work in receiving, recording and filing archival material. We usually meet twice a month. We provide posters from our archives for special events such as Graduation Night. We also send out Musings newsletters on a regular basis.
As a member, show a printed copy or send the digital edition of your Musings letters to other Malvern friends who are not members yet and point out the Registration Page where they can sign up to receive a copy. This can be done on this site. If you or other Malvern associates have questions or, if you are searching for former ’60s classmates, email us and we will try our best to come up with answers for you. Reunions are held regularly in Toronto and sometimes in other areas and if you want to know current and upcoming plans, email us asking for information and we will get back to you.
If you would like to become a volunteer member of the MRBS, send me an email and I will respond with information. It is always difficult for volunteer organizations to obtain new members. I look forward to meeting or communicating with you in the near future.
