Notice of MRBS Annual General Meeting

Malvern Collegiate Institute, 55 Malvern Ave.

Enter from North Parking Lot on Swanwick Avenue

Key Agenda Item: the future of the MRBS hangs in the balance. It needs to have new leadership and a sound financial footing. Only you can make this happen, or else the MRBS will fold at the end of 2016.

It is time for the present Executive to hand over the leadership of the MRBS to the next generation. We urge MRBS members to think seriously about the future of the Society and what they can do to make sure that it carries on and flourishes. The present generation of MRBS Executive members have been in office well beyond their allotted time – in some cases for 12 years. If we receive the same kind of zero response to our call for volunteers and office-holders that we have had for the last few years, we will not be able to carry on. We sincerely thank those who have donated the funds to keep us afloat since 2004. But we need about $2400 each year to meet our current expenses, aside from the donations allocated to the archives and small office expenses. We have helped to save the Malvern pool, repair the cenotaph, present awards, support the Malvern band, and participate in Remembrance Day. Malvern needs the MRBS!

Call for Nominations

We need members to run for office in the following positions:

  • President, Vice-President, Secretary and Members at Large
  • We need volunteers for Decade Co-ordinator for the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

Please submit by mail to the address above or by email at a nomination or self-nomination with name, contact details and indication of willingness to serve. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the AGM.
