MRBS President visits Malvern men’s graves in Germany

Vandra Masemann and her husband Volker were travelling in Germany this past January and made a detour to visit the Becklingen War Cemetery, where two Malvernites are buried.

Flt. Sgt. David Fenton (Class of 1936), a gunner in a Wellington bomber, was killed during an operation to Hamburg on 29 July 1942. He and several crew mates are buried in the cemetery and Vandra laid roses at each grave.

Also buried in Becklingen is Flying Officer Peter H. Burne (Class of 1940), the pilot of a Mosquito bomber on a mission called Operation Clarion, that was shot down on 22 Feb. 1945. Burne and his navigator, Allan Jerry Vickers of Markham, are buried side by side.

Thank you Vandra and Volker for going out of your way to honour these men.
